hear from our community
Doctors don't just recommend us, they are us.
We don’t just build strength and muscle. We build bulletproof bodies trusted by the medical community.
There is a misconception that "hardcore" means reckless. At The Pit, we prove that heavy strength training and safety aren't opposites, they are partners.
We are proud to be the training ground for some of Singapore’s leading orthopedic surgeons and medical doctors. These are professionals who know the human body inside and out. They understand that true injury rehabilitation doesn't end at the physiotherapy clinic; it ends under the bar.
They trust us with their own bodies, and they trust us with their patients. Whether you are looking for post-surgery strength training or simply want to train without breaking down, our programming is vetted by the people who fix bodies for a living.
Hear from the doctors who sweat on our floor, grind through our sets, and trust The Pit to bridge the gap between healthcare and performance
Raised by Iron. Forged by Discipline.
Artyom and ivan didn’t just join a gym. They grew up in one.
Artyom and Ivan represent the old-school virtue of patience. They walked into The Pit as boys and are training today as men.
Youth strength training at The Pit isn't about maxing out too early; it’s about laying a foundation of perfect technique and structural integrity. For years, these two have followed our protocols for long-term athletic development, learning that consistency beats intensity.
We don't just teach teenagers how to lift weights; we teach them accountability, grit, and respect for the process. We provided the environment and the mentorship; they provided the work.
Watch Artyom and Ivan discuss their journey from their first rep to where they are now, and how The Pit shaped their mindset on and off the gym floor

"My Physio said I needed to lay off the bench press for life."
In 2016 I was recovering from an AC joint inflammation. My physio said I needed to stop bench pressing to avoid recurrence. Thankfully, that led me to The Pit. Fast forward, I ran two half marathons and a few trail runs injury-free following a very systematic strength programme

"The doctor told me I would never run again."
Even the doctor told me that I will never be able to run or do knee-bending exercises due to a permanent injury. Today, I am glad and proud to be able to squat and deadlift without any knee pain at all.

"They never promised a 'quick fix'."
At the time I weighed 142kgs. Unlike other gyms, the guys never promised a quick fix. Instead, by focusing on consistency, they turned training into a sustainable part of my day. I have lost nearly 40kgs and am stronger and fitter than I have been for more than 20 years.

"I improved my Muay Thai game significantly."
First impression of the owner Irving was that he was intimidating... however, he is one of the nicest people one can ever know. Through The PIT, I was able to improve my Muay Thai game significantly, improving my core strength and power through metabolic conditioning drills.

"No fancy equipment. Just pure old school metal."
"No fancy equipment or the latest fitness innovations; just pure old school metal bars. The strength program has made me more resilient in training and reduces the likelihood of injuries on the mats. This is one holistic facility I couldn't be happier with."

"From stiff joints to a Silver Medal."
"When I started, I wasn't able to squat to parallel and the weights I used were light. After training with 'Ving', I was able to make great progress in all areas. So much so that I competed in the Singapore Powerlifting Open and bagged a silver medal."

"I fell in love with the idea that 'Anyone can be strong'."
I really thought that running was all about putting as many miles as you could in a week. I was wrong. I started looking for ways to recover and strengthen my body. I am fully recovered now and ready to finish another half-marathon in under 2:15 hrs.

"A bespoke programme that worked with, not against, my injury."
My injury has been a real source of frustration. Nifal focused just as much on rehabilitation as well as fitness. He has been extremely patient and tailor-made a programme for me that produces results. I feel lighter, stronger, and happier with my body.

"You can actually look forward to going."
The PIT is everything you want in a gym. They don't force you to try and look like a poster for the gym (unless that's what you want). It is a place where you are greeted at the door and treated like family. You can actually look forward to going, even if you don't like 'going to the gym'.

"I felt like I had hit a plateau."
I have been going to the gym for several years and felt like I hit a plateau. A friend recommended Harold. A customised personal training session was tailored for me and since then I found myself getting stronger. His ability to craft programs helped bring my fitness to the next level.

"An impeccably structured program."
With an impeccably structured program designed to challenge, Eddy has been instrumental in helping me achieve my strength goals. Thank you, Eddy, for your no-nonsense discipline and infectious can-do attitude. (I say this despite my sore hammies and glutes!)

"Harold saved me from injury and led directly to strength increases."
The first time I walked into The PIT, I had not touched a weight in ten years. I was out of shape from a decade of treadmills. I was fortunate to find The PIT for its no-nonsense approach. Harold's vigilance has corrected my form, saved me from injury, and led directly to strength increases in every lift.

"Important for a 46-year-old 'Uncle'."
I have hit new Personal Bests in the squat (152kg) and deadlift (170kg). All this, while managing to keep myself injury-free, which is important for a 46-year-old 'uncle'. Harold's insistence on perfect form and a well-designed strength program has led to postural improvements that carry over to everyday life.

"Walking into The PIT is like entering a fight zone."
I needed more than running on a treadmill. Walking into The PIT is like entering a fight zone... you will not know what is coming next. Nifal evaluated every angle of my fitness. He trains like a 'rubber band'—stretching you through limits progressively. I have gained not just physically but mentally—disciplined, focused, and confident.

"Never before fitter and fabulously enjoying the 40s!"
Lost 15kg since beginning training at The PIT. I am now proudly able to buy off-the-rack European 'slim-cut' apparel. Nifal makes my Saturday 7am workout an adventure! Beyond the connection, what I'm most thankful for is the improvement in strength, stamina, and better health I now enjoy.

"A few litres of milk and a 5kg gain."
I started as an underweight, lethargic fellow. I lacked self-motivation. Nifal worked out a starting strength plan—squats, bench, deadlifts. After just 2 months and a few litres of milk in my daily diet, I'm doing stuff I never thought capable of. I'm at 70kg now and it feels good.

"Flipping a 300kg tire."
Routine gym training was boring. The PIT focuses on functional movements that blew my concept of training out of the water. Under Nifal, I have achieved things I never thought possible—like flipping a 300kg tire or completing >100 pull-ups. I am stronger, fitter, and faster for competitive rugby.

"I realized I had nothing to 'keep', but must gain what I lost aging."tem
I just turned 50. When I learned The Pit's concept of 'Strength before Conditioning', I realized I needed to gain back what I lost. I worried the gym would be packed with scary 'muscle guys', but it is filled with a friendly vibe. It’s really fun and I always enjoy it.

"Train hard and joke hard."
Going to The PIT does not feel like going to those big name gyms. It is a community where all PITBulls get together to train hard and joke hard. I managed to lose 10kg and beat my personal records in lifting weights.

"I needed work on my cholesterol and diabetes."
I started out as 'Little Cricket'. I needed work on my cholesterol and diabetes. Irving assured me with his 'Little Cricket' speech – 'Slowly lah. You will get there.' Today, I can deadlift my body weight of 70kg. Irving is like a big brother; under his menacing exterior is a man with deep integrity.

"I realized how much time I had wasted trying to get fit on my own."
For 7 years I ran and lifted weights but got nowhere. The first session at The PIT made me realize how much time I had wasted. Since starting, I have lost more than 10 pounds and am stronger, fitter, and faster. Ving and his crew are the ones to go to.

"As I have had lower back surgery, safety is critical."
I had four days of training at the PIT during my visit to Singapore. Irving ensured that I was well warmed up and led me through instructional periods to ensure my form was good. As I have had lower back surgery, this is critical to me. I was impressed with the professionalism.

"I broke my personal bests in the deadlift."
I fight competitively and wanted to improve my strength. Irving knows how to describe exercises in such detail that you maximize your capacity. Thanks to him, I lift weights I never thought I could and learned so much about my body limits, flexibility, and movement.

"Thyroid Schmyroid!"
"Since I was diagnosed with Mitral Valve Prolapse and Hyperthyroid, I realized I had to change the way I train. Irving was patient in getting me to focus on my goal: to get stronger. Now I can say: Thyroid Schmyroid! I couldn't be happier with my progress."
- Jacqueline Goh

"I lack the self-motivation to train on my own."
I lack the self motivation so I started training at The Pit. They truly care about your personal well-being. They customise the training to fit your personal goals and push you forward. They never allow for complacency to set in.
